TECHNICAL PEN The recommended size for a first pen is the nib size: 3 x 0/.25mm. It is packaged on a card.
INDIA INK. labeled “permanent” or “waterproof”. The best is Koh-I-Noor’s Universal Black India (3080).
WATERCOLOR
Grumbacher Finest Watercolor is recommended. An alternative is Reeves set of 12 or 24 tube colors.
WATERCOLOR PAPER, 140 lb good quality cold-pressed.
DRAWING BOARD for attaching the Watercolor paper.
BRUSHES
The best brushes to use with watercolors are sable hair.
An alternative choice is a quality blend of natural and synthetic sable hairs. Grumbacher Sables and Sable Essence in various sized flats rounds and fan shapes.
1 Round Brush, #4 for detailing
2 Flat brushes, # 6 and #8 for fill in work
1 Aquarelle-1/2” for background washes
1 old worn synthetic flat brush for stippling and graining
LIQUID ACRYLICS
1 Payne’s Gray
1 Brown
OTHER
1 Tweezer for placing rock salt
1 Stylus for bruised lines
1 single edge Razor Blade for scratched highlights
2 sponges, Sea sponge and a Man-made sponge
Liquid Frisket, Rock salt, Isopropyl Alcohol, plastic wrap, paper
towels, paper tissue, all for textured surfaces, & spray mist bottles.
Most of these supplies can be purchased at most art and craft stores.
