WEEK ONE:
June 17 - June 21


Architectural Drawing
Instructor:
Marcia Malloy
Mornings: Mon - Fri, 9am-noon
Ages 6-9. We will examine famous buildings around the world, The Capital in Washington, D.C., the Empire State Building, New York, Versailles, France, and the Kremlin in Moscow. Using proportions and learning architectural details, we will draw these buildings as well as city scenes, a town, and a farm and render them with watercolor, oil pastels, colored pencil and markers. We will also design a vacation house in Nagshead and construct a model.


Mixed Media and Sculpture
Instructor: Susan Serafin
Mornings: Mon - Fri., 9am-noon  Full
Ages 9-14. Creating art out of puzzles, old books, mask and old boxes; students will explore artist techniques used by Picasso, Robert Cornell, and Rauschenburg. We will learn about exciting art techniques such as crayon resist, paper sculpture, use for found objects, paint, chalk and fabrics.

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1-4pm
Ages 6-9. Enter the fun and exciting world of cartooning and draw from your unlimited imagination!   Instruction will cover technical methods that will teach students to draw better and enjoy artistic expression. Study perspectives, coloring, compositions and basic pen-and-ink techniques for caricature drawings.  Express your humor in creative ways.

WEEK TWO:
June 24 - June 28

Let's Get Animated
Instructor:
Tammy Morin
Mornings: Mon - Fri., 9am-noon
Ages 12-17. Come explore stop motion animation! Create your own character, draw your storyboards and script and design your own set. Then put it all together in a stop motion movie. Students that have a digital camera should bring one.


Fantasy Creatures
Instructor: Karen Hassinger
Mornings: Mon - Fri., 9am-noon   Full
Ages 8-12. Students will learn how to draw fantasy creatures, using a step by step method.  Students may then add their own touches.  Besides drawing, this class also offers creatures in 3-D.  Using cardboard armatures, students will create creatures using plaster wrap.  The week will also include printmaking.  Come ready to learn!


Fantastic Fiber Arts
Instructor: Amy Manson

Afternoons: Mon. - Fri., 1-4pm
Ages 8-12. Focus on creativity and the many art forms that fiber can inspire. Projects will include macramé, weaving, coil baskets and yes, even friendship bracelets.

WEEK THREE:
July 1 - July 5

Art-A-Rama
Instructor:
Melanie Stein
Mornings: Mon.-Fri. 9am-noon
Ages 5-9. Students will get to experience a variety of artistic mediums including ceramic clay, paper mache', printmaking, drawing and painting.  Subject for projects will vary based on student interest but will also include culture, animals, people, seasons and more.


Painting and Sculpting
Instructor:
Carmen Howell
Mornings: Mon.-Fri. 9am-noon
Ages 7-12. This camp studies the four elements, FIRE, AIR, WATER and EARTH, we will discuss each element and use them to create art forms and paintings.  Students will be introduced to painter and sculptors who have done this kind of art.  Sculpting will be done using clay, paper, cardboard, plaster.  Painting projects will use different media.


Puppet Making

Afternoons: Mon. - Fri, 1-4pm   Full
Ages 8-12. Have an interest in 3D art and interactive art? Join us for adventures in puppet making! Through step by step instructions learn how to create your own movable creatures. Make everything from finger puppets to life size puppets… what fun! 

WEEK FOUR:
July 8 - July 12

Tropical Art Adventures
Instructor: Laura Mazer
Mornings: Mon - Fri, 9am-noon   Full
Ages 8-12. Campers will work with many different art mediums such as drawing, painting, printing and collage.  Famous artist such as Paul Gauguin and Henri Rousseau will inspire our tropical art adventures! Students will learn to use their artist eye and gain confidence, while having fun in a creative and supportive learning environment.


Photomontage, Collage & Fun

Mornings: Mon - Fri, 9am-noon
Ages 5-9. Students will explore a variety of artistic methods including collage, photo transfer, layering, painting, drawing, and found images to create their favorite paintings and artist books. Students can bring in their favorite family photos and images.


ARTastic

Afternoons: Mon. - Fri, 1-4pm
Ages 5-9. A variety of projects will be covered including, but not limited to, drawing, painting, watercolor, crafts, and clay.  Topics for projects will come from a variety of sources including literature, music and famous artists.

Creative Horse Play

Ages 8-12. Take a journey to discover lots of creative and fun ways to draw, paint, and collage HORSES!  Ever wonder how to draw a horse's eyes or velvety nose?  Would you love to draw a horse galloping with a flowing mane and tail?  We will also learn about the anatomy and confirmation of horses while making our dream horses walk, trot and dance on paper.



Portraits, Gardens and Masks

Mornings: Mon - Fri, 9am-noon
Ages 5-9.
Vincent Van Gogh and Andy Warhol painted and designed many gardens as part of their artist process. Follow their lead and design and create your own garden to inspire you! Also explore portrait painting and mask making in the exciting and varied camp. Students will be introduced to famous artists like Dali, Gaugin, Chagall, and Picasso and will learn about art from Africa, Mexico, North America and New Zealand. Students will work with acrylic paint, clay, collage and water color.


Art Journaling

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1pm-4pm
Ages 12-15. Students will learn a variety of art techniques using watercolor, acrylics, drawing pencils, pens, photos, and more. Animals in Art

Lions, tigers, and bears oh my! Make 2D and 3D art inspired by pets, farm animals and wildlife. Draw, paint and sculpt your favorite animals! Projects will incorporate found and repurposed objects.


Kids-N-Clay Pottery

Ages 8-12. Your young ceramic artist will create fun and enchanting clay projects and learn the basics of working with clay. The class is designed to expose children to pottery and ceramic sculpture and to stimulate visual awareness as well as hand eye coordination. Students will learn about the wonderful potential of clay and create whimsical, fun, colorful pieces of art.

WEEK EIGHT:
August 5 - August 9

Fine Artist and Explorer

Mornings: Mon.-Fri. 9am-noon

Ages 8-12. Come to an exciting class where you get to be the professional fine artist.  Students will be presented with a different general project/technique each day.  Begin the project and see where your creativity takes you.  Topics include drawing realism, lettering, colored pencil and oil pastel techniques.  Projects will be 2-dimensional in nature.


Painting and Sculpting

Create art out of common repurposed objects. Make paintings, prints and sculpture out of a variety of objects like toilet paper rolls, empty bottles and old t-shirts. Learn to approach art even more creatively using nontraditional mediums.

Ages 12-17. Explore Adobe based software and learn how to use them as artistic tools. We will explore the idea of computer graphics and how digital artist use these tools to create there art. Be exposed to computer graphics vocabulary as well as processes.
