WEEK ONE: 6/21-6/25

Cartooning, Animation, Sequencing
Instructor:
Christy Slone

Mornings: Mon - Fri, 9am-noon
Ages 9-13.From black-eared mice to sponges flipping patties under the sea, we will look at the world and art of animation, now modernly called sequencing. We will also learn about the artists who started the craze of animation and who make these cartoon pictures come to life. Be prepared to create your own comic book and go where your story-telling and picture-making have never gone before.



Sculpt and Paint I

Mornings: Mon - Fri, 9am-noon Ages 5-10. Explore the possibilities with color and form and experience different designs and patterns. Students will paint with tempera, watercolor, acrylic,
oil pastels and soft pastels. They will sculpt and make collage using clay, wire and plaster.

 

You As Art
Instructor: Melanie Stein

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1-4pm
Ages 9 and up. During this exciting class, students will get to explore a variety of materials including clay, paper mache, collage, chalk pastels and paint. Each project will focus on the artist creating it, whether it will be a literal self portrait drawing or creating a piece of art about the artist's favorite things.

Sculpt and Paint II

Art For Many Hands

Ages 6-10 . Explore arts from around the world. Huichol Indian yarn paintings from Mexico,
felt rugs of central and northern Asia, marbling and books and other art forms.



Jambalaya I

Ages 5-8
. Painting, drawing, sculpture and collage, all “jammed” together. Jambalaya is all about mixing it up in new ways. It is about seeing your world and making art in your own way. Bring your imagination!

 

 

Absolutely Art

Ages 5-8. Do you like to make things with your hands? Do you like to build things and tinker around? Do your parents ever tell you to stop playing with your food? In this class we will turn trash into treasure by building junk sculptures. Take normal objects most people would discard and turn them into art.

Ages 7-9 . Learn about the fundamental principles of color using pastel, colored pencils, watercolor, oil pastels. Bring photographs of insects, birds, fish, reptiles, mammals and we will study their habits and surroundings. Fun and creativity will involve different art methods such as drawing, painting, collage and sculpture.

 

Paint, Paper, Clay

Ages 7-12 . Be inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, Georgia O'Keeffe, Louise Nevelson, Henri Matisse and Hans Hoffmann to create beautiful works of art.We will review the elements of art such as line, shape, color, value, texture and form and how these artists used the rules to create original works of art.We will learn
about exciting art techniques such as crayon resist, paper sculpture, weaving and clay sculpture

Ages 8-12. Have you ever wondered how artists draw people? Do you want to become a better artist and learn about famous artists who have displayed their paintings in museums all over the world? Then this class is for you! Each day we will create a work of art based on the human figure.We will draw, paint and even use wire and plaster to discover our hidden talents.

WEEK FOUR: 7/12-7/16

 

Draw, Paint, Print
Instructor:

Mornings: Mon - Fri, 9am-noon
Ages 6-10. Express your creativity by using ink, paint, and a variety of other materials. Students will experiment, explore, and create original works of art. We will use monotype, relief, collograph, and stencil printmaking techniques. Students will also create an image to print on a t-shirt. By the end of the week, students will have a portfolio of artwork to take with them.

 

Jazzy Modern Art

Mon - Fri, 9am-noon
Ages 9 and up. Do you dig the art from the modern era of the 1950's, 60's and 70's? Have you ever wondered what hippies were really like and what inspired their art forms? Artists during this time broke away from traditional art ideas and began to experiment with different materials and forms. Paint, draw and sculpt while we focus on modern artists such as Kandinski, Johns, Lichtenstein, Burch and Calder.We will be painting, drawing and even creating wire sculptures while listening to classic rock music.


Color and Black and White Digital Photography
Instructor: Jeanette Burkle

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1pm-4pm
Ages 12-17.
Open your eyes in an exciting new way as we explore both color and black & white photography. As a photographer, you’ll play with light and shadow.
See how color plays a part in the composition of your picture- when to play up the color or when to play it down. Emotion and lighting in a photograph will become evident as you discover the art of black & white photography. We’ll also explore various themes of photography and understand how best to compose the subject and how to create photographs with impact. Required equipment: Digital point & shoot camera with the capability to turn off the flash. We will be photographing outdoors for the majority of the week, so dress for the weather (it will be hot!) and bring a water bottle.

Jewelry Making

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1-4pm
Ages 10-14. Design and create your own jewelry using beads, shrink art, friendly plastic and wire techniques.We will design our own pendants and beads to make necklaces, bracelets, pins, and earrings.You can bring your own beads also!

 

Creative Clay

Afternoons: Mon.-Fri. 1-4pm
Ages 6 and up . Do you love to work with clay? Are you inspired to create three-dimensional works of art such as vases, wall hangings, sushi trays, decorative face jugs and houses? Then this class is for you. Each day we will use clay tools to design useful but artistic objects in clay. Emphasis will be placed on proper joining techniques, application of texture and the ability to turn your ideas
into decorative sculptures.

Sculpture I

Ages 10-14. Enjoy an exciting opportunity to explore and experience traditional and contemporary sculpture techniques. Students will be exposed to a variety of materials in creating their own sculptures and will leave camp with a foundation
of sculpture knowledge and vocabulary.

 

Storytelling Through
Digital Photography

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1pm-4pm
Ages 12-17.
Spend the week discovering the world of photojournalism. How do photographers get their messages across? Using visual communication and sequencing of photographs, your photographs can tell a story. Let the moments of an event unfold one photo at a time, or have a common theme run through your photos. As a photographer, you will gain the
understanding of creating a viewpoint using composition, lighting and camera angle. You’ll get to know your camera by exploring a variety of techniques, from creating a sense of movement within your photographs to artistically capturing a portrait. At the end of the week, the story-telling photos will be mounted and displayed within a book that will be handcrafted by each photographer.

WEEK SIX: 7/26-7/30

Fine Artists

Mornings: Mon.-Fri. 9am-noon
Ages 9-14. Do you like to draw and want to learn some cool tricks? Do you like to have lots of choices for your projects? Do you like to use lots of different materials? Come to an exciting class where you get to be the professional fine artist. Students will be presented with a different general project /technique
each day. Begin the project and see where your creativity takes you. Students can do each project or continue with techniques learned on previous days. Topics presented are drawing realism, lettering, colored pencil and oil pastel techniques. Projects will be 2 dimensional in nature.

 

Traveling Through Landscapes, Seascapes and Space

Mornings: Mon - Fri, 9am-noon
Ages 5-9. Sport cars zooming through the countryside, Cinderella's coach gliding to
the palace, and space capsules orbiting the earth – these are some of the vehicles we will create. Students will draw buildings and vehicles in the city and in the country, sailboats and ocean liners on the sea, and rockets and space capsules in space.We’ll color our pictures with cray-pas, watercolors and markers, and build our favorite mode of transportation out of
clay.

 

Discovering Great Artists

Ages 6-10 . Learn about many famous artists and be inspired to create your own art based on one of the many famous artists in history.We will focus on Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet and more.

 

Clay Time - full

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1pm-4pm
Ages 6-10. Create adorable animal sculptures, real wind chimes, bird houses, pinch pots and letter holders using terra cotta clay and glazes. Sandi will teach you pound, wedge and sculpt your clay into a creative masterpiece.

WEEK SEVEN: 8/2-8/6

Landscape Crazy
Instructor:
Melanie Stein Mornings: Mon.-Fri. 9am-noon
Ages 9 and up. During this class, students will be creating a variety of landscapes through drawing, painting, collage and sculpture. Learning how to create objects in nature will be a focus of this class, as well. Students will use both real life observation, as well as imagination, to create in this class.

 

Creative Writing & Illustration part 1

Mornings: Mon - Fri, 9am-noon
Ages 6-12 . By combining the elements of poetry from Shakespeare to Silverstein and
the art of bookmaking, students will create 4 different books based on the 4 elements in nature: Earth, Water, Wind and Fire. Students may choose from different media such as collage, watercolor, acrylic, and pen-and-ink to create
their books. Full day or half day.


Draw, Paint Sculpt

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1-4pm

Ages 5-8. Celebrate the wild wonderful world of art through drawing, painting, collage,
sculpture and more! Students are introduced to the style of the masters and apply techniques learned to their own art style.You'll be amazed by these mini masterpieces!

WEEK EIGHT: 8/9-8/13

Studio Art

Ages 6 -8. We’ll beat the summer heat with lots of cool projects. Students will experiment with a variety of materials to create paintings full of color, “bronze” sculptures, 3-D collages and more!
Your creations will be admired for years to come!

Meet Modern Masters
Instructor: Melanie Stein

Mornings: Mon.-Fri. 9am-noon
Ages 9 and up.
During this class, students will learn about some of the most influential artists of our time and then use their style of art (be it the materials the artist
used or the style they created in) to create original works of art. Artists being studied will include, but are not limited to, Jackson Pollock, Henri Matisse, Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso.

Ages 11 and up. Learn to create swirly terra cotta coiled bowls and creative vases using claymaking
molds.We'll also use slab work to create mugs with handles you can really use, wall pockets, bird houses your backyard friends will love to settle into and lanterns.

 

Fun Fiber Art
Instructor: Julie Cacciola

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1pm-4pm

Ages 9-14. Focus on creativity and the many art forms that fiber can inspire. Projects will include macramé, weaving, coil baskets, and, yes, even friendship bracelets.

 

Have Your Way with Clay
Instructor: Melanie Stein

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1pm-4pm
Ages 6-10. During this class, students will learn about the origin and creative process involved with clay. Students will learn a variety of hand building techniques including pinch pots, coil construction and slab construction. Students will be given the opportunity to pick topics to create based on their own interests.

WEEK NINE: 8/16-8/20

Garden Escapades Instructor: Susan Serafin

Mornings: Mon.- Fri, 9am-noon
Ages 5-9. Using the garden as inspiration, we will explore what is underfoot and create some summer sunshine beauty. Birds, bees, rocks and trees will come to
life in our art, and we will paint flowers and butterflies, design a garden and learn how all these wonderful things grow. Using plaster, paint and objects in nature, students will see their images develop and transform in a variety
of ways as they learn about different artists and their mediums.


Art From Around the World-Mixed Media
Instructor: Melanie Stein

Mornings: Mon.- Fri, 9am-noon
Ages 6 and up. During this class, students will learn about art from different cultures from around the world. A different culture will be explored each day. Materials used in class will include clay, paper mache, paper sculpture, and various drawing materials.

Metal, Metal on the Wall
Instructor: Melanie Stein

Afternoons: Mon - Fri., 1-4pm
Ages 9 and up. During this class, the students will be using various types of metal to create. Materials include metal wire, metal foil, metal sheets and mesh metal to create a variety of two dimensional and three dimensional objects. Projects include a wire sculpture, a metal tooling picture, metal sculpture using the mesh metal, an embossing project and a mixed media self portrait sculpture using a variety of the metal materials offered.
