WEEK ONE: 6/23-6/27

Paint, Draw & Sculpt I

Ages 6-8. Students will experience a variety of art techniques and materials that will build on their skills and allow their creativity to flow!

Art Inspired by
Children's Literature

Instructor:
Connie Pullella
Mornings:
Mon - Fri, 9am-noon

Ages 5-9. In this class we will use classic children¹s literature as our inspiration. We will create original artwork using a variety of media, based on books by such great authors as Dr. Seuss, Maurice Sendak, Shel Silverstein and more!

Paint, Draw & Sculpt II

Ages 9-11. Students will experience a variety of art techniques and materials that will build on their skills and allow their creativity to flow!

Painting & Drawing
with the Masters

Instructor:

Afternoons:
Mon - Fri, 1-4pm
Ages 5-9. Students will discover works of painters such as Matisse, Picasso, O'Keeffe, Dine and Varo. Each day they will study a different artist and a different way of painting. Students will experiment with light and abstraction in ways the artists experienced...working from objective studies to abstraction in their own paintings.

WEEK TWO: 6/30 - 7/3

Rock & Roll Art
Instructor:

Mornings: Mon.-Thurs. 9am-noon
Ages 9-14. Do you like rock and roll? Have you ever wanted to be in a rock band? In this class, students will eplore the connections between art and music through a variety of different mediums. We will look at artists who have created work influenced by music as well. as art that has defined the styles and fashions of certain types of music. Students will have a chance to design their own album covers for a made up band that they create.

Absolutely Art

Ages 5-10. Bring your ideas, imagination and interest to this class. Come and explore the exciting world of paint, paper, clay and more! Children will learn about famous artists & create dynamic personal interpretative finished pieces each week.

Paper Creations: Paper Maché, Printmaking & Drawing
Instructor:

Afternoons: Mon. - Thurs., 1-4pm
Ages 9-12. Students will work with papier maché, printmaking techniques, drawing and painting to create imaginative creations. Students may draw from bugs, grassland animals, rain forest animals, ocean animals or other creatures to use as inspiration.


Sculpture

Afternoons: Mon. - Thurs., 1-4pm
Ages 10-14 . Do you like to make stuff with your hands? Do you like building things and tinkering around? Do your parents ever tell you to stop playing with your food? In this class we will be turning trash into treasure by building junk sculptures. Take normal objects most people would discard and turn them into art. Make cool things no one would expect to see out of everyday found items.

WEEK THREE: 7/7-7/11

Fine Artists
Instructor:

Mornings: Mon.-Fri. 9am-noon
Ages 9-14. Do you like to draw and want to learn some cool tricks? Do you like to have lots of choices for your projects? Do you like to use lots of different materials? Come to an exciting class where you get to be the professional fine artist. Students will be presented with a different general project /technique each day. Begin the project and see where your creativity takes you. Students can do each project or continue with techniques learned on previous days. Topics presented are drawing realism, lettering, colored pencil and oil pastel techniques. Projects will be 2 dimensional in nature.

Drawing and Sculpting

Ages 5-9. Drawing is the foundation of art. Develop this natural ability by careful
observation of positive and negative spaces. Subject matter will vary from still lifes to scenes from your imagination. Enjoy sculpting in clay while learning about 20th century sculptors. In the first project students create masks while discussing Native American and African costumes and their reasons for using masks.Students will also build animals, heads and faces.

Painting and Drawing

Ages 10-14 . This class will provide an opportunity for students to try out a variety of painting techniques. This class is designed for anyone interested in painting even if they have never painted before, or for those who are already painting but want to continue to improve their skills. We will look at contemporary painters who are changing the way we think about painting and explore new possibilities for painting in this class.

Wax, Dye, Dry.....Batik Fun!
Instructor:

Afternoons:
Mon. - Fri, 1-4pm
Ages 10-16. Come have fun with Batik. We will make several small fabric pieces in class with emphasis on developing a theme, subject matter choices, types of composition, one-color studies, multi-color practice and we’ll cover suggestions on finishing, framing or sewing.
Supply fee includes wax, dyes tools and gloves. Students should bring : Soft, prewashed, white or off white cotton fabric. Muslin, quilting fabric, even an old white bedsheet. Bring lots of fabric, it's possible to do 10 batiks in a day. Fabric with a higher cotton content absorbs theliquid paint best.

WEEK FOUR: 7/14-7/18

Fun Fiber Arts

Ages 9-14. More than just friendship bracelets, we will focus on creativity and the many art forms this medium can inspire. Projects will include macrame, weaving, coil baskets, and yes, even friendship bracelets.

Claymation Animation

Mornings: Mon - Fri, 9am-noon

Ages 9-12. Have you ever wanted to try claymation? Do you like making your own cartoons? In this class we will look at different types of animation from old school cartooning, to claymation, to modern cgi animation. Students
will have a chance to make their own animations in any of these methods.

Cartooning Basics

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1-4pm

Ages 8 and up. Cartooning Basics provides a fun and creative environment for students of
all skill levels to experiment and improve their drawing through cartooning.
Make comic strips, flipbooks, your own unique cartoon characters, or
whatever your imagination can think of…its up to you!

Caricatures and Illustration
Instructor:
Eric Seat
Mornings: Mon - Fri, 9am-noon
Ages 11-16. If you like to draw people and faces in a humorous or exaggerated way, this class is for you. Taught by artist/illustrator, Eric Seat, students will develop the ablity to pick out individual facial features and mannerisms that make everyone different...then exagerate them to create a final expressive portrait. Students will learn the tips and tricks to drawing professional caricatures and cartoons. Whether your interest is in comic strips, caricatures, comic books or other cartoons, these skills are tailor made to help make your creations more expressive and compelling. Eric will also demonstrate his skills for the students. Bring pictures of your favorite famous people.

Creative Fusion I

Ages 6-9. Students will have lots of fun and excitement as they discover new and creative ways to combine painting drawing and collage. Usuing a variety of drawing and painting materials, we will explore the imaginative world of mixed-media.

Explore the Wonderful World of Animals

Mon - Fri, 1-4pm
Ages 5-9. Pastel, colored pencils, watercolor, oil pastels. Bring photographs of insects, birds, fish, reptiles, mammals and we will study their habits and surroundings. We are going to be learning about the fundamental principles of color. Fun and creativity are the name of the game which will involve different art methods such as drawing, painting, collage and sculpture.

WEEK SIX: 7/28-8/1

Sculpture I

Ages 10-14. Enjoy an exciting opportunity to explore and experience traditional and
contemporary sculpture techniques. Students will be exposed to a variety materials in creating their own sculptures. Students will leave camp with foundation of sculpture knowledge and vocabulary.

Drawing and Painting

Color and Black and White Digital Photography

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1pm-4pm
Ages 12-17.
Open your eyes in an exciting new way… we’ll be exploring both color and black & white photography. As a photographer, you’ll play with light and shadow. You’ll see how color plays a part in the composition of your pictures… when to play up the color or when to play it down. The emotion and lighting in a photograph will become evident as you discover the art of black & white photography. We’ll also explore various themes of photography and understand how best to compose the subject and how to create photographs with impact. Finished photos will be creatively matted and mounted for display in an upcoming student art show at the Academy.
Required equipment: Digital point & shoot camera with the capability to turn off the flash. We will be photographing outdoors for the majority of the week, so dress for the weather (it will be hot!) and bring a water bottle.

Sculpture II

Ages 6-12 . By combining the elements of poetry from Shakespeare to Silverstein and the art of bookmaking, students will have the opportunity to create 4 different books based on the 4 elements in natue: Earth, Water, Wind and Fire. Students may choose from different media such as: Collage, Watercolor, Acrylic, and Pen and ink in the creation of their books. Pack a lunch.

Brush It!

Ages 9-12. This will be a fine art painting class to brush up on famous painters! Then learn just how many effects you ca get with a brush. Enjoy the art of experimental painting.

WEEK EIGHT: 8/11-8/15

Mystifying Magic

Mornings: Mon.- Fri, 9am-noon
Ages 9-12. Come learn the “behind the scenes” of magic and find out closley-guarded secrets and skills involved in making objects disappear! Is the hand really quicker than the eye? Now you can learn basic to more advanced “sleight of hand” techniques and misdirection used to amaze your friends and family. Receive instruction in the “Art of Illusions” and magic with everyday objects from an experienced performer and teacher.This camp also provides several magic effects and “hands-on” performance instruction.

Fine Art Fun

Ages 6 and up. Celebrate the wild, wonderful, dynamic world of art! A fabulous introduction to art with a varied use of media - drawing, painting, collage, sculpture & more. Students are introduced to the style of the Masters and will apply techniques learned to their own art. You’ll be amazed by these mini masterpieces! New projects will be introduced each session.

Clay Time
Instructor:

Afternoons: Mon - Fri, 1pm-4pm

Ages 6 and up. Hand-build with clay to create bowls, tiles, toys, musical instruments and creatures of your own imagination. Discover the world of texture and form while using joining and sculpting techniques.

Art From Around
the World

Instructor:
Tia Maggio
Afternoons: Mon - Fri., 1-4pm
Ages 8 and up . Students will create engaging projects that reflect the culture or geography of a different country, such as paper fish kites from Japan and carnival masks from the Caribbean.
